ACOG or Holo
So I was looking to get a G&G M4 Carbine, and I've been having trouble deciding to get either an ACOG or Holo sight.
I'm mainly concered about light hitting the holo and someone seeing the flash. As at Bigfoot (the place I played last) I heard a couple people talking about how they could see the reflection off my team mates red dot/holo sight. Now the ACOG I've been looking at won't have any magnification, mainly cause I'm too poor to buy one with any. And I know I can get a killflash for the ACOG for only like $10-15 so that's not much of a problem. What I'm wondering is, how much does a killflash inhibit my ability to see through the ACOG. And how bad is the reflection off the holo, or is there none due to a specific coating on the lens? And personal opinion wise, which do you think looks better? the ACOG or Holo? Since there's not going to be any magnification on the ACOG, the choice comes down to the flare, usability and how sexy it makes the gun look Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks for your time everyone! Kevin |

ARD's (At least real ones) for real Aimpoint, Trijicon or Elcan products do not hinder performance at all.
When the ARD (Killflash) is placed correctly against the scope lense, you will not see the honeycomb. Acog ARD's (TA57) from Tenebraex are designed to work with a 4x optic. The honeycomb is quite thick, and on a 1x replica optic, I would imagine you would see some level of "tinting" That being said... Aimpoint ARD's are a nice thin filter designed for the 1x optic. So if you wanted to go the unmagnified optic path, with high visibility while using an ARD. That would be my recommendation considering your budget Examples below: AIMPOINT Killflash Filter ACOG Killflash ACOG Model TA57 Killflash Last edited by c3sk; August 21st, 2010 at 05:46.. |
