From what i heard, the long term effect is sterilization.

Forever ago I worked in an Industrial Bakery and the forman rounded up a few Youths to Unpackage and bin angel food and pound cake. Three of us were dutifully dumping them and tossing the packages but the one dude was running late for lunch so snuck a bite in here and there as he worked. Forman returned when the deed was done and we asked what up with that.
Romeo lost his finger in the batter to pan part of the production...
three of us went to lunch, snacker went home sick.

you mean the old western omelette, they made us eat that in the gas hut...thank god I managed to keep it down.
