AI Propane adaptor
Just bought an AI propane gun gas kit. Put 2-3 drops of silicon in the propane tank nozzle, screwed on the adaptor as said in manual, (tested the tank with the little nub before hand as well). When I try to fill the mag, gas just spews everywhere, not sure if its the mag thats spurting the gas out... or the adaptor itself. The guns mag is an Army Arnament 1911 meu magazine. Some gas gets in... but only about 2-3 shots worth.
PS. This is the new verison, plastic AI gun gas kit. Hellllp!!! |

Means that the seal on the nozzle to the mag isn't good. You are filling the mag, but a lot of it is leaking out so it's going to take a lot longer.

Had that happen with 2 ARMY Detonics mags I had.
Probably just crappy valves/seals. |

try this:
turn mag upside down, hold the flow value button down and see if gas flows through. it should come right out. if not, you might have a fill value blockage. also, when you fill, make sure the nozzle is parallel to fill value and push firmly. |

The oring on the fill valve on the mag is probably missing. You can either buy a new valve, search for a new oring, or if you're really lazy (like i am haha), you can cut a very small fragment of rubber band off and stuff it where the oring was. But it tends to fall out.
You might be able to find an oring at osh or lowes.

NOTE: This is not a complaint directed towards the sellers of either items.
So the seller of the propane adaptor is suggesting that the chinese brand mag is at fault... which seems like a very possible. However, the seller of the gun claims that gas was filled before shipping (true, I was able to fire 2-3 shots). So if the mag was able to be filled with the same adaptor I have, it now could be the adaptor that is faulty. I have no other magazines to test with, any suggestions? |

It's most likely the mags. Your adaptor has worked fine before?
You said you don't have other mag to test with, so get a local's gas mag to test out. I'm pretty sure you'll find out that it's the ARMY mags. |

It's just the fact that my seller had no issues filling the mag I have with his adaptor... but regardless, some new mags can't hurt. So my options for other magazines are TM, and WE?

What kind of adapter did the seller have?

One way to narrow it down, is to:
1) Test another mag with the adapter. If the new mag fills, then the fault is with the old mag. If it still fails, then chances are, the adapter is at fault. See the next test below for confirmation. 2) Test your original mag with another adapter. If it still fails, then your mag for sure is at fault. If the new adapter is able to fill the new mag, then chances are, the original adapter is at fault, see above for test two to confirm it will not fill in a new mag. I've seen this happen once before, where the magazine was used with a propane adapter that had a deformed steel tip, which ended up deforming the soft metal of a crappy magazine's fill valve. The result, was that if any other propane adapter was used on that deformed fill valve, it wouldn't fill properly because the deformed valve would not allow a proper mating with any other adapter tip. Where is the gas spewing from? Where the tip connects to the fill valve? Or where the tip connects to the base of the adapter? Another test you can do, is to connect the duster adapter to the tip of the existing propane adapter and attempt filling - if the muzzle of the original tip is malformed, the duster tip should correct that. If it's STILL not filling, then chances are, there's something wrong with your mag. Also, are you pressing hard enough to engage both the springs of the adapter as well as the fill valve? Some fill valves require a greater amount of force.
